Thriving Together: Our 2025-2029 Strategic Plan

Our CEO Shares EHS’ Bold New Vision for the Future
Every day, we see the incredible ways that animals bring joy, companionship and connection to people’s lives.
People like Vanessa, one of our Pet Pantry clients. Her dog Prancer carried her through some of the most challenging years of her life. Or Kathy, who met her dog Cinco while volunteering at EHS. Now they give back as an Animal Ambassador team, inspiring others with their story. And Jenna and Larson, whose cat Celeste made such an impact on their lives that when they got married last summer, they asked for donations to EHS instead of gifts. They wanted more animals and people to experience that same love.
These stories share a common theme: pets and people enriching each other’s lives. That connection has long been central to our mission. Now, we’re looking ahead—to a future where people and pets thrive, together.
To guide us in this work, we spent the past year listening. We gathered insights from over 1,300 members of our community, including staff, volunteers, donors, adopters, clients and partners. We reflected on where we’ve been, what we’ve learned, and how we can scale our impact to help even more animals and the people who love them.
Today, I’m proud to introduce our 2025-2029 Strategic Plan, which will shape the next chapter of EHS.
Our Strategic Plan
This plan represents an evolution in our role in animal welfare. While adoption and sheltering remain at the heart of what we do, true progress means addressing the root causes that bring pets into our care in the first place. This isn’t a challenge we can solve alone or within our walls. It’s time to think bigger.
That’s why we’re focusing on:
- Expanding prevention and support services to help keep pets with their families.
- Strengthening the bond between people and pets through education and advocacy.
- Collaborating with partners to drive meaningful, system-wide change.
None of this would be possible without you. Whether you’ve shared feedback, volunteered, donated, fostered, adopted, participated in a program, attended an event or simply championed our mission, you’ve played a role in shaping this new vision.
As we take these next steps forward, we invite you to be part of what comes next. Together, we can build a brighter future for animals, their people and our entire community.
We hope you’re as inspired by this plan as we are. We can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish over the next five years, together.
