We understand that unexpected and crisis situations arise where you may be unable to keep your pet temporarily. Here are some resources to help find a solution, so your pet can be safe and cared for until you can take them back.

If you are facing family or domestic violence, you can find supports here from the Government of Alberta and get help 24/7 by calling or texting 310-1818.

Temporary Pet Housing Supports

Some emergency shelters across Alberta offer on-site or off-site pet care programs, and can be viewed at sheltersafe.ca.

The Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters also has a list of shelters that take pets or have a local partnership to house pets.

Seek a Referral for EHS’ Emergency Boarding Program

Human service agencies such as shelter or rehabilitation facilities can refer clients who live in Edmonton and surrounding areas who need temporary care for their pets.
