Spreading love from their wedding to help animals in need.

When Jenna and Larson started thinking about adopting a cat, they weren’t sure when they’d take the next step. But that changed the moment Larson showed Jenna a photo of Celeste, a sweet little cat available for adoption at the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS).

Jenna and Larson’s Story

“She was the first one on the website, and she seemed like a nice cat from the description,” Larson recalled. Without hesitation, they started the adoption process.

Celeste turned out to be the perfect fit for their family. “With a little patience, she came out of her shell—and is now the queen of the house,” Jenna laughed. Celeste has become an irreplaceable part of their lives, bringing joy, companionship, and a warm greeting every time they walk through the door. “She is always so wonderful to spend time with and snuggle up with,” Jenna added.

When Jenna and Larson got married last summer, they knew they wanted their celebration to reflect what mattered most to them—including their love for animals. Instead of a traditional gift registry, they asked for donations to EHS in honour of Celeste.

“We really enjoy our cat and want other people to experience that as well,” Jenna explained. “EHS was the perfect place to find a cat that really needed a home, and all the animals we couldn’t adopt deserved help, too.” Thanks to their thoughtfulness—and the generosity of their loved ones—they raised over $1,500 for animals in need.

Their connection to EHS goes beyond Celeste. Many of their friends and family have also adopted from the shelter, making it a natural choice to support. For them, the work of EHS is essential. “Animals can’t advocate for themselves,” Jenna said. “When they have no home, or someone can’t take care of their pet anymore, it’s important for them to have a place to go. EHS bridges that need.”

For those considering making a gift to EHS, Jenna has one simple message:
“Do it! These animals need love and care, and this is such an easy way to help without actually adopting—though you should totally do that too!”

By giving back in Celeste’s honour, Jenna and Larson are helping more animals find the loving families they deserve—just like Celeste did.
