Course Description

This program is designed for kids ages eleven to fifteen years and is similar to a babysitting course, but is focused on caring for friend and family members pets. This one day course covers body language, handling emergency situations, and how to be a responsible pet caretaker.

Help your child build valuable skills for a lifetime. As a trained pet sitter, certified by the Edmonton Humane Society your child will learn:

  • Daily care considerations for domestic companion animals such as dogs and cats, including feeding, exercise, enrichment, grooming, and special needs (i.e. administering medication)
  • How to understand what an animal is trying to communicate through its body language and behaviour
  • What to do in an emergency situation
  • Their responsibilities as a pet caretaker
