It could be… a look that says, “Feed me”…or a “Please take me for a walk.” Or it could be the “You are my favourite person in the world” look!
Our veterinarians here at the Edmonton Humane Society, far too often, see pain in a dog’s eyes. But thanks to our donors, that look of pain turns into joy.
You see, dogs come to us injured, sick and homeless. We nurture them back to health and find them a safe home. That only happens because the animals we care for have our donors on their side.
With their support, we heal injured animals every day. For example, the lovely dog Leo.
Leo’s Journey: From Pain to a Life Filled with Love
As you can see from his photo, Leo is all smiles now. But when we met him, he was in need of medical care.
When he first came to the shelter, Leo was a wounded three-month-old puppy in pain. His leg was broken, so our medical team immediately placed a splint to help it heal.
But that wasn’t the only problem.
Leo had cherry eye, a mildly uncomfortable congenital abnormality. Our medical team performed the surgery required for this condition, all thanks to the support our donors provided.
As you know, puppies are playful and keeping him calm during his recovery while ensuring his splint stayed in place was a challenge. But we didn’t give up on him. Our dedicated team monitored his progress, adjusted his splint as needed, and gave him the love and care he needed.
And now, Leo has found a new home.
Now Leo’s eyes sparkle with love. He’s a happy pup again. And it’s all thanks to our generous supporters.
